It's been a good month, and a quick month! I just celebrated my birthday this past Monday, and it was lovely :) All of my birthday wishes made me smile, :) I got to spend the day shopping with my Mom, and I even won a beautiful print from Margot of Newfoundlander at Heart – all things combined made for a perfect day. Thank you :)

I wanted to share with you the last custom I've completed for this month. This was an order for my good friend Eric of Dartmouth Clothing. He wanted to give a special creature as a birthday present to his friend James White of Signalnoise. James is an Artist and Designer here in Nova Scotia, and Eric wanted this little creature to reflect James' personality and art. I've completely fallen in love with this little custom and it was a tough one to send on his way.

You finally get to see what those spikes from my sneak peek were for!

James and his Monster

I have lots of ideas for March, and more custom orders underway... I'm planning on posting a picture of the 200 likes EEP for my Facebook giveaway later this week, so keep an eye out! And feel free to 'like' so you can join in.

Hi! I came across a cute tutorial last week on how to make a sock teddy bear. He looked so fun and easy, I thought I'd give one a shot. I stitched one up while watching a movie Friday evening so I snapped a few pics along the way and thought I'd share. I tried to track down the original creator and designer of these little bears and I believe the source comes from a site called Taobao

On to the tutorial! Here's what you'll need to get started:
• 2 socks (1 is the majority of the bear, the other you'll only need a small amount for the bear's nose)
• scissors
• thread
• marker (or something to draw your shapes for cutting)
• 3 small black buttons, 1 small white button, and any other little embellishments you want to dress up your little friend
• stuffing
• needle, stick pins
• kitty foot on the left hand side of the photo is optional.

On to the fun part!
1. Flip your sock inside out and draw the head and ears at the toe end. The heel becomes his little bum and you draw out the legs on the other side of that. The rest of the sock cuff becomes his arms.

2. Cut out the head shape and then trim a very small portion off the end of the toe. This will become the neck hole where you will stuff.

3. Next cut out your legs and arms. You should have 4 cut out parts. Head, 2 arms, and the body.

4. Keeping your sock inside out, sew around the ears, legs and arms. You can do this by hand or use your machine. Leave the ends open on the arms so you can stuff before attaching to the body. I used a little under a 1/4" seam.

5. You're now ready to flip everything right side out and begin stuffing! He's starting to come together :) Stuff the head, body, and arms.

6. Hand stitch the head closed and then do the same to the neck of the body.

7. Now hand stitch to attach the head to the neck of the body.

8. Cut out a piece from the other sock to create his little muzzle. Cut out an oval shape – I'd say close to the size of his face and then pin it in place.

9. This part was a little tricky, but just take your time, it will start to take shape. Hand sew the edge of the muzzle to the face of your bear. I stitched all across the top, down one side and halfway along the bottom before starting to insert stuffing. Squeeze a bunch into the pocket you created and then continue on stitching to close the rest of it up.

10. Now for the fun part! Attach your 2 little eyes, and nose. I used 2 buttons to create his nose – a black button, with a slightly smaller white button on top. This is my favourite part in creature creating! They really start to come alive when you add the eyes :)

11. Last but not least, stitch on his little arms!

12. Add any little embellishments to give him some character. Viola! a new little friend! :)

Boo gave his final seal of approval and then went back to sleep.

Hope you find this tutorial fun and you try one for yourself! I'd love to hear if you create one.

I have lots of RAWR orders on the go, so keep an eye out for some pics on what's coming up this week :) Also, I'm doing another giveaway soon for my Facebook group. I'll be doing a draw at 200 likes. The winner will receive a special EEP to mark the occasion. Pop over to check it out! I'll be posting a picture of the 200 likes EEP soon :)

I wanted to share some pictures of the King's Edgehill girl's hockey mascot I just completed. King's Edgehill is a private school here in Nova Scotia, and was actually founded way back in 1788. I was asked to create a mascot for the girl's hockey team and she will be traveling with them to all of their games. I'm excited to see the pictures the team ends up taking with her.

I have a quick turnaround on the next monster who is due this friday. He's all planned out in my head, so hopefully everything will go smoothly. eek!

Bright and sunny today!
Happy Monday, J

Happy Wednesday :)!
I wanted to do a little update the Hockey Mascot Creature! She's coming along and is pretty much ready to head out the door to hit the road with the Girl's Hockey team. I'll have some final pictures of her by the end of the week before she leaves. For now, here are a few sneak peeks :)

I'm happy to say I think this head cold of mine is finally getting better and I can get back to sewing. I have a really exciting project coming up next that I can't wait to get started on. I just received some of my supplies in the mail...
...little bit different then what I'm use to ordering or hunting around for :D but that's part of the fun!

Hope everyone had a nice Valentine's!

It was beautiful and sunny today and in some spots 12 degrees C. Oh spring, please come soon!

I've been so sick lately with this stupid head cold, I just haven't felt up to posting anything – which is making this stupid sick even more frustrating! ;)

I still have been trying to snap my February Photo a Day pics on Instagram though. This is my first month doing it and it's a lot of fun! A friend of mine has been doing it with me. We both enjoy the new photo prompt each day and it's pretty cool seeing everyone's interpretations on the same subject.

Feel free to follow me, just search rawrcreatures. I love seeing everyone's photography! Here are a few shots of my life on Instagram.

I have a bunch of really cute projects coming up, hopefully this cold will be gone soon.

RAWR Valentine's Day Printables

Hi! Valentine's is less than a week away, so I wanted to design a little RAWR Valentine's Day printable to share! <3
In the PDF you will find a Valentine for that special someone :), a find-a-word to play, a fun little envelope and a stamp for the outside.
I printed my Valentine and Find-a-Word on card stock to give it a bit more weight, but it's up to you. I'd love to hear from you or see some pics if you decide to spread some RAWR love.
You can download your RAWR Valentine's Day Printable Here:
Hope you like them :) Have fun and enjoy!

Just wanted to write a quick little note to say the Valentine Eeps are now up in the shop. Three have already found homes, but there are still 4 more up for adoption :)
I seem to be coming down with a cold :( unfortunately I didn't accomplish as much as I wanted to this weekend. I did get this little firefly creature completed though. She will be a gift for a new little baby girl.

Newfoundlander at Heart's Anniversary giveaway is up and running with a lot of cute little prizes including the little blue and white stripped Eep. Pop over to find out how to enter :)
Happy Sunday :)

I woke up this morning to a fun little surprise that completely made me smile :) I have received the Enchanted Blog Award from Erica over at Live.Love.Random. This is my 2nd week of blogging and I'm having so much fun meeting new people in this amazing, extremely talented community. I want to say thanks for all the nice comments and feedback I have been receiving :)

  • If you have received this blog award, kindly post the picture thumbnail into your blog with the name of the one who gave it to you.
  • Don’t pass this award back to me!
  • Pass this blog award around to as many blogs as you like! (optional)

I’d like to pass the award along to:

Margot of Newfoundlander at Heart
Margot’s blog is a pleasure to read and she is such a kind person to chat with.

Wibke of FingerFabrik
Wibke creates the most beautiful bags that I have been absolutely in love with for a couple of years now.

On another note, I wanted to share this new little eep I just finished sewing up last night :) He is going to be included in a giveaway over on a friend's blog in a couple of days. She is celebrating her blog's 1 year anniversary! I'll update with a link once she has everything up and running :)
Lastly, I finally got together some shots of the little cuckoo bird with the quilt my friend Aimee made.
Lots of creature projects planned for the weekend!

Happy February!
I wanted to do a quick post about my Valentine Eeps. I've been sewing up a few of these little guys in between projects and have been dying to share :) I will have them up in the shop for the weekend, but please feel free to contact me if you're interested in adoption. I grabbed a few shots tonight to share :)

I have a couple of upcoming projects that I'm about to start working on in the next day or so :) One is a mascot for a girl's hockey team. I just finished collecting all the supplies yesterday so I'm pretty excited to get started on this one.

Looks like the beginning of a busy month, but we're slowly getting closer to spring! :)
