I finally had the chance to finish up my little bird project today. He reminds me of a Cuckoo. :)
I will be offering the Cuckcoo bird as a new RAWR design soon. Speaking of which, my custom list is almost finished so I'll be able to start building inventory in the shop! I can't wait! This has been a goal I've been trying to accomplish for some time now.

Hope your having a nice Sunday :)

I wanted to write a little post about this amazing book I purchased called “Wreck this Journal” by Keri Smith. The journal was designed to encourage unstructured creativity while helping to escape fear of the blank page.
Each page contains illustrated, mess-making acts, which help guide you to see creative destruction everywhere. There are so many neat experiences in this book, including taking it with you in the shower, poking holes through pages, and collecting fruit stickers from your groceries.
Some of the activities immediately make you stop and scream NO! – which is part of it’s brilliance. Being pushed outside your comfort zone is such an important part of the creative process.

One of my wrecking favourites is the back cover. You are instructed to tape up your book and mail it back to yourself. I haven’t done this one yet, but how fun to have your journal show up in your mailbox with stamps, postage marks, and just bangs and dings from running through the postal system!
Being an artist, my favourite style of art or creativity is to just jump in. With my creatures, this is how I usually work – grab some socks and just start cutting! I love letting loose and being surprised at what’s staring back at me in the end.
I purchased my copy on Amazon for about $12, I’ve only just started and am having a blast! Definitely check it out if you’re up for some mess making fun. Is anyone else already wrecking their journals?

It’s FRIDAY! and it’s stormy outside. I kinda like the wind.

I had so much fun last night crafting online with Love Elycia & My Girl Thursday. The craft night, was hosted live on Ustream and began 9pm my time. I love this idea and was immediately excited to join in! The project –  a little plush camera pillow!  It was a lot of fun stitching away listening to other crafty girls having such a great time and answering questions being tweeted by fellow camera makers.

Also, there was a kitten....can you really go wrong with kittens?

Here is how my little camera turned out. It now lives on a shelf in the art room. I can’t wait to see everyone’s completed masterpieces.

On a side note, the little birdie creature is almost finished. I love how he is turning out and I will definitely be offering this as new RAWR design soon. So far, he has taken 5 socks!  I will be posting pictures of him later this week, and am hoping to snap one with the quilt as well. For now, here's a sneak peak.

Happy Wednesday!

Hi! My name is Jayme and I'm the owner of RAWR creatures. I’ve been making art for most of my life and began creating monsters about 6 years ago. I've been wanting to start a blog for ages now so I can share my little creatures, cute stuff, and all things inspiring :)

If you have a moment, take a peek at the "meet the creatures" section to see a few of the most recent adoptions. My custom order list was a little big just before Christmas. Always such a busy time of the year...but I have so many plans for this year! And I'm really excited to launch a bunch of new designs, get some inventory built up in the shop, and prepare for some craft shows for Christmas 2012!

Today I'm starting a new creature design for a friend of mine. She's been working on a quilt for her friend's new baby, and I'm creating a little birdie to go along with the quilt. Here is a picture of the fabrics she used in the quilt, my colour palette to go by...super bright and fun!

I'll posts some pictures of how everything turns out...speaking of which, I most go start sewing! Really excited about my first post :)
